Can you switch the 20GB HD for a 40GB HD?

The 30 and 40 GB drives use a dual-platter drive and are slightly thicker than the single-platter 15 and 20 GB models. I don’t think the dual-platter models will fit the X. IIRC, there will be a slimmer version of the 30 GB drive based on the technology in the upcoming 60 GB drive, but neither have been released to the general public yet.

I would be really happy if I could upgrade my X505/CP hard disk to 40G or 60G.

If you can find Toshiba MK3004GAL-30GB, you can upgrade your exist 20GB MK2004GAL of your X505.

I would not dare opening my X505 up. The way it is assembled and what Erik went through with keyboard swap, I would not touch it with a ten fot pole.
