I am the only other moderator and I can’t delete posts unless it’s in the X or U forums…most spammers post in the Sale and Off Topic sections…

I guess in the end that the answer is just vigilance, or perhaps more vigilantes. We’ve definitely built up a reliable, if quirky and somewhat off-topic, cast of characters. If we make the forum inhospitable to spammers, it doesn’t make the effort worth it.

To that end, I’ll volenteer for mod duty. As long as it comes with the ability to change my title.

I would cast my vote for Drachen…and if needed to open me up to delete those topics as well.

For the most part, most spam posts don’t last more than 8 hours (usually because I’m sleeping when they get posted) so it’s not like it’s totally rampant. What I normally do before deleting the posts is double check on the IP addresses and make sure I ban them first. I also have a zero tolerance policy on anyone who registers solely for the purpose spamming the forum. Those accounts get locked and/or deleted immediately.

Any rate, I will likely open up some moderator spots to a select few to help out when they can. That should help accelerate the response time to most spam posts. That should definitely helps things out much faster.

Good to hear you’re thinking about adding more moderators to the site.  It’s always good to have several moderators patroling the forums, because you can’t be online all the time monitoring this place.

well I +1 for Drachen and tifosiv122 to be moderators (1 each that is, not a half each )

I think it’s a credit to this forum that we’ve survived so long with just gr00vy holding the fort but I can only believe that having a few extra moderators will mean spam is on the forum for less time which will discourage spammers the most I reckon.

It’s a different thing though that he’s hardly ever around.
