And if you’re really lucky you get a shitty, abreviated cut of the movie with the dub, a la Shaolin Soccer here in the US. I’m just glad they included the original cut of that film on the DVD.

Nice! Zatoichi is one of my all time favorite samurai flick. Have you seen its original TV series (played by Shintaro Katsu from 1962 to 1989)? In my opinion, Shintaro Katsu does a better job as Zatoichi.

Yeah I kind of regret it now.  Blech… bad aftertaste.  :cry:  Watching HK Cantonese films in Mandarin dub isn’t half the atrocity of Anime dubbing.  There is no Japanese archetype that can be accurately portrayed by any American VA.  Plus semantics just seem to get tossed in the trash bin.

Depends. I thought a few of the voice actors on Hellsing (notably Alexander Anderson) were much better than the Japanese actors. Then again, it was set in England, so there was a ton of cross-cultural goofiness in that one.
