I replaced the motion eye when i encountered the black screen a month ago…what the problem really lies is the CCD chip burns itself out even though u do not use it very much..

I have a feeling that the circuit board that the CCD chips sits on might have fried the CCD…

anyway..i went down to a local dealer and got myself the external PCGA-UVC10. I took it apart like i did and took out the motion eye CCD and replaced it with the CCD from UVC10…

technically the CCD from the UVC 10 is exactly the same ..however it is a tad shorter and requires some careful folding in order to get it to fit into the motion eye casing…non the less…there is no improvement in the sharpness as the actual signal processing on the UVC10 board…and it is too large to fit into the motional case…unless i am going for an all out radical facelift on my TR…

anyway….i am hunting for the OEM manufacturer of the CCD ...or i might be doing something very drastic when my currently alive motion eye dies out again…..

In Germany there is a 2 year warranty period on electronic items. That means I’m going to get my TR1 serviced in a month, before it expires! I only hope that Sony will recognise the problem and not send it back, citing a probloem on my side with SP2 or so. Anybody have an idea how I should go about this or what I should mention?

Have you guys concluded that it is a hardware issue?

Mine too, it’s only working for about 1 year. Now it’s only displaying white colour.. :(

Did you’ll keep it on for long periods of time? Mine works fine so far…just tested it this Sunday and it worked ok. If it stops working, my parents wont be able to see me anymore :cry:

Rahul,how old is your TR? so far

I got it in the start of March last year, so that will make it around 15 months old.

I could but they already have a bigger version of that picture. Besides, it’s more than 5 yrs old!

Rahul, I rarely used the camera. About 2 weeks ago, it just stopped working when I wanted to play with it. Tried everything I could to fix it but no hope :(

You too get a black/some other color screen?

Yup, now it just gives me white color instead of capturing my face…

oh well, all I can say is that Sony does use some cheap materials for some components and the webcam on the TR is one of those components. 

i guess im facing the same motion eye problem..
when i started it today i got a black screen… which is weird because the motion eye always worked fine, besides the screen i get is not just a back screen it moves… i mean i get a black screen just like it was working but with my hand in front of the lense.. ( am i clear??? :?  )
any idea?
