I’ve just done a clean install and got hold of all the drivers and utilities ok… but now the powerpanel is coming up with the warning that it’s gonna turn off the optical drive when i pull the power cord out…  before it never came up with this warning!?!?!?

Do i need an older/newer version or is there a fix for this…

well if powerpanel is saying that then surely there must be an option to not have the drives switched off when converting to battery mode…???

It never used to warn me when turning it off before…

Hmm…that’s really strange. It always asked me if I wanted to turn it off and because of that, I left it on. Besides, it doesn’t save you that much power since when it’s not in use, it’s only drawing. I believe these drives use just under 5W when you’re burning at max speed. When it’s not in uses it’s around 1-2W if even that so you won’t save that much power.

Oh i’m sure it did, because i had to change profiles to read cds… and the drive would start up after a profile change too, as it does now…
I just never warned me… ??????!!!!

Did you clean install include a switch to XP SP2? It seems to me that SP2 does a little better at warning before turning things off.
