Sorry about the Urgent in the Subject but is true.. i need to buy a notebook in the next 2 weeks.

I need to buy a new one because my older one ( ECS G732, PIV 2.0 1Gb Ram, HD 60Gb, Video 128Mb ) is dead… i want to sell it or something.

What do i want / like in a Notebook:

- Light (in fact… ultra-light in weight)
- Minimum Size.
- Cool looking Design ( for what i’ve seen so far the Vaio, the Mac…)
- LCD ( well… if i want a small or compact and light notebook, the lcd has to be small as well, but another day i try the T150 / T1XP from Sony Vaio with 10’’ LCD and it seem to me too small, so at least 12’’ or 13’’ i suppose )
- Hard-Drive, Standar… 40Gb or 60Gb if possible.
- Wireless Included ( but a good board with good reception capabilities )
- Bluetooth Included ( I dont know why, i can only think of connecting to the mobile phone to get internet by GPRS.. but then again, i can install a PCMCIA GPRS… i dont know.. but need Internet anywhere, either wifi or gprs or umts or… )
- Video ( Would like to be able to play some games, and i use software to video and photo edition, so anything without shared memory, and 64Mb to 128Mb i suppose )
- TV ( Out to TV PAL .. would like that )
- Processor ( The best, not negleting the weight and size of the model )
- Battery ( The best times possible… 8 to 10 hours… is that real? )
- CD’s and DVD’s ( Writer, not need to be Dual Layer )

Regarding the price… i wont say nothing except.. i dont belive in no name brands because of the warranties and quality… so i prefer to pay a little more, but have a good benchmark, good and reliable quality components.

PS - Because im Portuguese, it has to have Portuguese Keyboard, or a chance to buy that specific part number and install it… or you can sugest a specific model and i will try to find it here in Portugal.

Sounds like the Sony S-series is as close as you’re going to get, it may be 4+lbs, so it’s not “ultra-light”, but still pretty light for that size.

As far as I know, no other 12-13” solution offers bluetooth integrated (Unless someone can prove me wrong).

Also, almost no notebook will offer 10 hours even with the extended battery…8 hours is still kind of high for a double-capacity battery.  I’m pretty sure the S-series can’t squeeze those numbers constantly even with the double-capacity battery…

As to the keyboard, I have no idea as to how you would go about getting a Portuguese one, so can’t help you there.  Same thing goes with the TV-OUT in PAL, probably some Asian model is more suitable for you…

Everything else you wanted seems to lean you towards the S-series as well.

i`m using a Sony TR1MP since 2 y. Pros: very light, excellent screen, good performance.
Cons: keyboard a bit too small (you often hit the wrong key), WLAN only worked after a software update.
In office i have a large srceen attached and use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. All in all a great notebook for travellers and with add-ons also superb for office work.

S series or a 12” powerbook with the bells & whistles on…..
