Whats the best way to put a pc online, that is, i want to access it using probably ftp:// or http:// none of that remote desktop rubbish. Is there a way so that i dont have to use a client of somesort, just enabling a windows service maybe?

Try one of the vnc softwares like tightvnc or realvnc.They do the exact same thing as logmein but they’re free. However, I think they would qualify as a remote desktop (not rubbish) softwares :?

In addition to the solutions suggested above, you can also use http://www.dyndns.org to remember your server by a domain rather than by ip.
