I am in the market for a PC laptop and is very interested in the new T series (240-270). For what I read in the forums and the user guide, it seems that there is a ram slot that is avaiable to the user to upgrade memory.

All references to memory upgrade is for another 512MB. My question is 1GB module compatible with the T series? If so, then that would make the max RAM size of the machine 1.5GB (I am assuming the other 512MB is onboard and not user accessible).

Anyone can commend on the CPU gain from the T150 to the T250? After all, its “just” 0.1 Ghz difference

Where is a recommended reseller to buy the T series from? I remember seeing the T150 selling on Office Depot for 1800ish after rebates last dec.

All Vaio Centrinos can handle theoretical 2GB ram, since they use 855 chipset.  Yes, the Txxx can take a 1GB microdimm.  If you can find a T1xx substantially less, like for example on ebay, it would probably be the better deal.  Imho the 60GB hard drive is probably a more compelling reason to go with the T2xx over the T1xx, so I think it would really come down to whether or not you needed that extra 20 gigabytes or not.

Is it realistically possible to upgrade a T series to 2gb though? There is only one micro dimm slot accessible to the every day user and I assume the other slot is hidden and would require a full dismantle to replace this with a 1gb card?

At that point you have to be asking yourself what exactly you are doing that needs 2 gigs of ram, and more importantly whether the T/TR is the right tool to be doing it on.  Its like putting a nitrous system in a Miata.

While we are on the topic of Ram upgrades, does anyone have a guide on how to get to the MicroDimm slot in a VGN-T Series Laptop?

I am able to remove all the screws on the bottom, but can’t work out if you need to remove the keyboard, etc

Depending on what RAM you currently have installed, you can only add another memory stick which matches this. E.g. 256 you can add 256mb and 512 you can double up to 1gb.

Standard 512MB is soldered to motherboard. Only have one slot available to add one more 512MB module for max.
