i just realized they dropped it on the tr1a. i did use it, really.  i used to sync the clie on the road, then i did not have to carry the dock.  i also used it (one or twice) to connect my cellphone and used it as a slowmodem.  it actually worked with the nokia i have.  i know bluetooth and all teeth after that makes tlittle he IR port obsolete, but like the video out port, when they take it away -  ya just feel a little…well, ripped! :evil:

I wouldn’t mind an IR port either but it’s sort of going out…I would rather have Bluetooth though since it’s faster than IR and omnidirectional. It wouldn’t cost much more…darn Sony US…they suck.  :(

I just picked up a new printer today, a Canon i70 that can print wirelessly through IR. It would be nice if there were more Bluetooth printers available, but the only ones I’ve seen are HP’s 2 1/2 year old Deskjet 995c and the Deskjet 450 cbi, which requires a $100 CompactFlash BT card to go wireless.

i’ve got the canon bjc-55 here, used to print just grand via the ir port.  sniff.  hadta find a wire for the tr1… :(
