[quote author=“OnMyWayUp”]Is there anyway to recover a shocked motherboard? I opened up my Dell Inspiron 3700 a while back and I’m pretty sure I ended up shocking the motherboard or sumthing else inside because once I reconnected everything again and tried to boot up it just let the lights turn on for a few seconds and shutoff. Any way to recover the original parts… maybe? Or do I have to buy new ones… The only reason I even care is because I plan on giving it to my sister and mom because the only thing they need a computer for is e-mail, college(sister), game cheats
, and online banking stuff. And it will be a very cheap alternative to just repair the Dell than to get a new one…I hope
Board level repair is costly and, frankly, there are few service techs out there competent to do so. Most of them are competent to pull and replace. Unless you can find a really competent local electronic-nerd-guys repair shop, likely the only place that can service it is Dell.
Other than that, you might find one with, say, a damaged screen or a used one that someone is giving away.
Before I completely gave up, I would double-check that I didn’t leave a loose screw in there somewhere, pinch a wire, lose an insulating plastic cover, have a loose cable, reseat anything in a socket and make sure no switches are stuck.
