Like the title says I finally registered my Vaio {a bit late, but lets keep that between us} and I got the 20% off coupon…I didn’t see anything great, what did you use it for? Or did you not use it at all?

I picked up the external iLink DVD burner, still overpriced but more bearable at $399.

I registered but haven’t gotten the coupon yet.  Do they send it in the mail or is it electronic?

i signed up and was going to buy the extended battery with the discount but i found it for less with free shipping, no tax etc…. elsewhere.

E-mail…should come within 24-48 hours.

I don’t suppose Sony uk or Europe give us money back coupons? Or do they reckon that as we pay so much more for our units any way $100 wouldn’t make a difference!

I doubt you get anything in the UK or Europe. Rebates and money off is an American sort of thing as far as I can see. Well and in Canada too. We never get rebates or anything like that over here. Not sure why, especially as we pay much more as it is anyway.

I also have a Sony i.link camcorder on order (from my $100 coupon) and have read, though not clearly, that you can burn DVDs directly from the camcorder to the external burner without saving them on your hard drive.  Have you seen any evidence that this is the case?

Does anyone know know if the 20% coupon holds any personal info ?  I have received the coupon by email but don’t need to use it since I can buy whateer sony stuff I want through my distrabutor at the 20% discount and don’t have to pay for shipping.  I bought my TR the same way!   But I am thinking of giving my coupon up if it does not hold any personal records….

It didn’t seem to.  I entered the code into the text box and it showed the discount before I signed in as myself and no personal information was displayed.

It works really well, though a bit slow coming from my 4x desktop drive. I don’t use it in the vertical stand since it makes more noise that way, plus there’s always disc balance issues I don’t want to risk.

As for the camcorder-DVD burning, I believe this is possible, but you need to use the TR to control the burning. It should work though, but I’ve never tried it.
