Hi folks. New to the board and just ordered a new TR3A through the Sony Web site.

Was willing to pay extra to get the 11b/g wireless upgrade over the TR2A. The only regret is that Sony charges tax. What a rip.

Has anyone ever questioned Sony on collecting tax on the internet? Any way around this?

Sony (and any other company for that matter) can collect tax if they have a business declared in the same state that you live in. So, even if you are ordering on the Internet you can be charged sales tax.

Sony is a very large company and will charge you sales tax in all states except Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, Oregon, Nebraska, Vermont, West Virginia and Wyoming.

If you want to not pay sales tax next time, you should find a smaller vendor that only has shop in a state that you don’t live in. If you live in CA, it’s hard since most of the places that have the best prices are located in CA. You can always try to make it up via free shipping and any other mail-in rebates or e-coupons.

The web site still shows out of inventory but maybe that’ll update tonight.

What I still don’t understand is that we pay high shipping rates (I had to pay $50!) for overnight delivery, we place the order in the morning and they still say on the phone that they can’t ship the item till tomorrow. I checked on their website for order status and they say it won’t be shipped till Friday?!  :shock:  Also, it won’t get to my place in the States until Monday because they don’t ship on weekends?? So much for overnight and paying so much for it…I would have been better off paying for free shipping. This is all on top of tax, which is just a rip off…then again where else can you get a TR3AP3 sooner than that?

Yeah, the same thing happened to a buddy of mine who ordered a desktop system from them. Overnight shipping…which arrived 4 days later because they didn’t have it at the warehouse. You’re better off choosing the free shipping if you can wait.

They shouldn’t offer the shipping unless they have it in stock. I like other vendors that actually have a stock count and if you order by 12 noon (by their time zone) then they will ship it that day. That’s how it should be…shame on Sony! I would definitely ask for shipping back since it’s not shipped the next day.

Well, at least you guys are the first of the TR3 owners…and hopefully that will get TJMerwanji to sign on officially to this site. 

Yea! It’s gonna be hard for technical problems because I’m getting it imported to the UK…I can come here for support…lol…
