Tried loading the DVD region free software and realise it doesn’t support my S28’s DVD-RW drive(Matshita UJ-822Da) for region free…  Anyone solved this yet?  I’m sure i’m not the only one experiencing this…

I have a S270 also, but I dont have any other region DVDs to play in it. I am wondering though if AnyDVD from http://www.slysoft.com/en/ would help this problem. I use it with my DVDirect VRD-VC10 to copy protected media, it appears to clear the region code from the drive so all regions should work. I think it does some sort of drive simulation to allow this. Unfortunately as I stated I dont have any other region media to try it with, but at a <2 meg download for a free 21 day trial I say give it a try. Also luckily when you uninstall it, it asks to unreg it so there is no need to go though thr reg to delete all instances when the trial runs out. Just reinstall every 3 weeks or purchase it, or .....! I hope this helps you out. If you try it let me know.

ah still to no avail…. AnyDVD, Dvd Region free etc software based ones can’t work with this drive apparently, also read that my drive 822Da are locked at RPC2.  Can’t even find a firmware for this cursed drive! How annoying!!  :cry:

If you’re desperate to watch a foreign dvd on your notebook, install DVD Decrypter.  Pop your dvd in and rip it to the hard drive with the RC / RCE protection removal options on.  If your dvd player has file play capability, rip the dvd as files and then point the player to the .ifo file.  If your dvd player can only play from a mounted drive, rip the dvd as an .iso image.  Next, install daemon-tools, and then mount the .iso file.  Point your dvd player to the virtual drive created by daemon and away you go.

It may not be a completely legal solution though, since you’re bypassing css as well as copying a protected work.  Ripping takes time and hd space as well.

But the problem is
1) put the disc on the drive
2) winXP ask me what i want to do
3) I cancel the window
4) Open DVDDecrypt
5) Start to Decrypt
6) Software show the mensage that´s impossivel to decrypt because the drive has different region than the disc

So, i can´t decrypt.

i think most software i’ve tried have the same problem.  It’s locked down at the firmware level. I guess only replacing the firmware with those hacked ones works for us! :(

I use dvdshrink on my TR5 with UJ 812B all the time but if a different region disk to the region selected is inserted it fails to read and asks to change the region from the selection menu.
