I would like to upgrade my DVD/CDRW drive in my T-series to a DVD-RW drive and was wondering if others had a link to obtaining one that would work with the existing bezel. I have seen mention of 812 822 etc. Perhaps someone has one they would like to sell.

I’d go for one too if it fits my TR. Three more to go…

Wouldn’t it be better to get the DVD/DVD-RW drive for $30.00 more instead of only a DVD/CDRW for $100.00?

The A750 is 12.7mm. There is conflicting data out there.

So perhaps the 822B on eBay is a good option.

Anyone know where the thread is (link) that outlines the conversion to fit into the Sony TR series?? I am sure I have seen one here

I am confused about the eBay item linked in this thread. According to the Panasonic website all units with a B are SLOT type drives, and without the B are TRAY types. Take a look.

On this basis the eBay listing is a slot type which will not fit. So it would seem that the pic in the eBay listing may be a “generic” one and not accurate.

The drive HAS to be 9.5mm. A lot of the units are 12.7mm

The A755 model apears to be a suitable replacement in that its 9.5mm and a tray type - assuming that it can be adapted to fit the Sonny connector

I’ve tried searching the threads on this forum to get a clearer picture of what will work. Anyone out there who can offer an overview - please respond

this is a UJ-812B, not 822.  only dvd-r/rw works, NOT dual format.  read the auction closely.

this is still 812B, not 822, means not dual format dvd burner.

Apparently all the UJ-812 and UJ-812B series are tray loaded.

Sorry never meant to call it a UJ-822

The “B” has nothing to do with Tray loading or slot loading.  I have a UJ-815B in one of my ThinkPads and it is slot loading.  In another one, I have a UJ-811B and it is tray.
