I used to live in Ireland. 11 months a year of cloudy weather and then when the sun came in and it hit a balmy 24C (75F) people flocked to the beaches, fainted due to the heat and got red as lobsters on the beaches.

You burn worse when there is light cloud cover than when you are in direct sunlight. Whether you feel it or not, you skin is being damaged more.
How was living in Ireland? That had to be awesome with that kind of countryside (unless you prefer sun). While I enjoy warmer to moderate weather I LOVE cloudy, foggy weather and have always wnted to visit Ireland.

it’s finally warming up here in Chicago. tomorrow we’re going all the way up to 32F/0C! there were reports yesterday that parts of northern minnesota were down below -50F without windchill…if you ask me, anything below -10F feels the same.

If you know any people of Irish descent, you know that their lily-white skin burns in about 15 min of direct sunlight. Combine this with never having much of a tan at all due to never seeing the sun.  :|

Worth going, especially if you like old castles, churches and abbey ruins. If you love clouds and fog, Ireland has a corner on the market. Best time to go, especially for someone from SoCal is July. Decent weather then, and very cool compared to SoCal. A fun trip would be to rent a car with a couple of friends and drive around the country (it’s about the same size as South Carolina) seeing ancient things and stay in local Bed and Breakfasts. They’re basically family-run, tiny inns with a continental breakfast included. At night, have a few pints of Guinness with the locals at the local pub.

Visiting the place is much better than living there…

I read that in Central Europe, it’s been very warm and snowless over the past few months. They said something about grumpy bears roaming the Czech Republic instead of hibernating.

fucking cold in austria .... actually it started to snow the day before yesterday ...  :shock:

Well, we got hit today already. It started snowing here around 3-3:30am…its now 8am and I just measured 9 inches of snow. It seems we are getting 1-2 inches per hour now.

NY/NJ/PA…get prepared, this is going to be a bad one.

Im in Sarnia ON . Its very cold and the snow here is awesome, lots and lots. Here’s a picture I just took looking out my kitchen window. Its like half covered with snow.
