go to control panel, administrative tools, event viewer. event viewer log can be cleared. then reboot and look at the app and system logs to see what’s going on with your apps and system. perhaps the audit log will have a clue on your prob, as it may be some sorta password / authorization thing. i am not an expert on using these logs, but i have used them to diagnose my system and i have it now where i have only one error, and i know why (running IIS webserver in XP home). it’s a useful tool.
okay, checkdsk is simple, just go to my computer, select a drive, properties, tools, check for errors. i like to do this with the system in safe mode…dunno why…superstition… i also like to have clean drives…lots of crude can muck things up… i also check on defrag in that same menu from time to time….
