Ok the first problem, was my Computer Beeping and not letting me get into Windows, so i had to press ESC and get thru, now the wireless Network card will not work, so i go to Device manager and i see the network card has a yellow question mark… why??all the drivers are installed properly, i tried resintalling, still no hope.
Bugger me! can anyone help me out? its really frustrating, to be doing something on the net, and everything locks up. I have a good idea its about the Resource conflict, hes the details below again…

I Own a TR1 Series Vaio, and it occasionally freezes, and i have to reset it via the Button.
After the Reboot and when it shows the Vaio sign, it beeps once and goes no where, so i Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart and press ESC to get into the bios, and it comes up with this error

“Resource Conflict - PCI Network Controller in Slot 03, Bus:02 , Device:0B, Function:00”

It gives me a option for press F1 ro resume so i do and enter windows normally. This error is occuring more often now, i have all the proper drivers and apps for the Vaio installed, i have tried several times reisntalling the OS and network card. Please help me, so i can fix this

This sounds potentially troublesome. You really shouldn’t get resource conflicts in BIOS. Have you altered the hardware at all?

Try letting the BIOS load it’s default settings for everything. It could be that the problem is being enforced by a basic incompatibilty at boot.

If you haven’t altered anything and the BIOS is at it’s defaults already, then I think you need to talk to Sony. It may be that the network card is faulty.

Hi Rik, thanks for your reply.
The comp will make that beeping noise at the sony vaio sign, and when i press ESC it will show me the error.
If i turn my Vaio off for around 30 mins, and start it up, the problem is gone, and i can get back into Windows.
Do you still think it is a Bios problem? it seems conflict when i turn my wireless network switch on.
Its not something serious is it?

It does sound bad. I have not heard of anyone else with a problem like this with a TR1. If you have added some hardware this can cause problems. My son’s Wireless card (PCMCIA) will not work at at all if he boots up his Toshiba laptop with a USB mouse attached

If you have not added any hardware, then either the wireless card is not initialising properly at boot, but reboot may alter the BIOS. You should check in BIOS that the setting that OS contols the periferals is enabled. Windows is very capable of sorting out conflicts if it is allowed to. If BIOS is set to configure periferals at boot, it could cause Windows to have difficulty assigning interupts (IRQ), DMA and memory addresses.

If this only happened after new software was installed, then I would suggest a System Restore.

The only other piece of advice I can give you, before you talk to Sony, is to save anything essential when you get the laptop running and use the discs that came with the PC to do a clean install.

Without having the laptop in front of me, and a day or two to troubleshoot it, I can’t think of anything else to help you.

This issue was resolved? Same error here - there were mulitple posts - sorry to reply twice.  How do you set the bios as Delinquent says.  I don’t think the TRs have that option.  But the wireless card is no longer recognized.  The last think I was doing before the failure was to try and configure Itunes to connect to an Express box.  I am thinking of reloading the wireless card drivers, but I forgot where they are…
