Can any explain to me what I would need and how to set up a GPS satalite guided route making system on the TR?

Plenty of PDA’s offer this facility and I would like to try it with the TR but dont have the foggiest!

If you own the uk tr then you can use a bluetooth gps then load software onto your tr, like MS autoroute, at least i think that has the facility for gps navigation.

Yes Autoroute will work with a GPS. A bluetooth one would be the best way to go because it won’t tie you to any platform. Smartphone and PDA systems also should work fine off a bluetooth GPS.

Nothing is ever going to be future proof but I believe it’s the best option to go for right now. Also no cables so you can take your TR with you while leaving your GPS in a car say if that’s where you will use it.

If you have a Garmin GPS you can link their latest MapSource software to the TR1 via the Garmin data cable, connected to a serial to USB cable.  Garmins, for some reason are all serial. 

I have a Garmin V on my dash that I can link via the cables to the TR1 and it gives me real time locations.  You can load detailed map info from the Mapsource CDs (topos, cityselect, etc.).

The nice thing about this setup is that you can use the GPS by itself or with the computer.  If you get the other add on, its computer dependant (I believe).
