When an ad says that the external HD enclosure is for a 3.5” drive, will this fit my 80GB Western Digital HD whose actual size is 4"X6”?

Are you talking about WD 80 GB 7200 RPM model# WD800BB HD ? If yes then i have the same one and it works with the enclosure.

I have the WD800 80GB HD.
I don’t know if it’s 7200RPM. The model number was listed as WD800 NOT WD800BB—not sure if there’s a difference.

So does this HD require a 3.5” enclosure?

I doubt the form factors the same. I was just doing a google search. Didnt really find anything. But it will only work if the form factor is 3.5”.

Does the HDD fit in the smaller drive slots in your PC; where the floppy also fits?  If so it will likely fit into any 3.5” HDD enclosure.

I think i figured it out…

It IS a 3.5” formfactor drive….
