Hello Friends,

I’ve just bought the last remaining T-150 the local AAFES store had! The price was a little steep but it came with a free Sony backpack :D . I’m loving it already… cleaned up the HD, repartitioned it and I’m currently installing all the programs I use.

One question… this unit was the display model. I’ve got the impression that something was missing from the box :?  Could someone tell me if there is anything else included aside of course the 150, battery, AC adapter and a skimpy manual with no recovery CDs?

That was all that came with my T also.  Nothing extra, just the machine, cord, pamplet, and quickstart guide.

How long would it be before you return to the states or go to another Navy port? It’s never that great of an idea to buy the display model unless you get them to discount it for you. I’d take it back and wait til you can get another… But, congratulations either way :D

Yeh true. Infact i’d be a bit amazed if the screen didnt start coming up with those white spots soon.

The idea of owning a display model doesn’t sound that great unless you got a nice big discount on it.

Unfortunately military exchanges don’t give discounts :(  but hey, at least we don’t pay sales tax

The unit is in perfect shape though. They had only received six units and they kept them away from the regular computer section section and locked inside a counter. The unit I bought was closed and somewhat hidden behind a row of digicams. Aside a couple of smudges on the screen, everything looks fantastic :drool:

I’m at work right now but I’ll proceed with my usual hardware/software tweaking once I get back home.

A discussion point: the FIRST tweak I do on a new laptop is turn off the System Prefetcher. It makes the boot-up SO fast (only 2 1/2 to 3 cycles of the loading bar)  8)

Wow… that counts as a display unit   Our display units are the ones everybody gets to play with for months on end… by the end of their shortened lives… they are mangled to death :cry: ...

are you sure you havent noticed any scratches on the body ? very weird. my first toshiba was a display unit had a few scratches i found out about much later. BTW must be an interesting job travelling around with the navy. My friend was in the royal navy, got to the high seas once and never came back !  :xeno:  :ph34r:

hence, why the military scares the hell out of me.  :shock:
(but i like their video games!)
