If it is the INTEL 2915 802.11 A/B/G is out.

All of the specs seem to match up with what is here.

The specs don’t mention if it’s type 3B or not…

I just want to make sure everything will work, but with a price of $33.31 it is worth the risk.

Do you know if the software and drivers come with the card or if you have to download them from INTEL?

AMAZINGLY, my buy.com order arrived while I was at work today.

The is surprisingly light, although I guess I should not be terribly surprised.

Inside the box (da-da-dum) is the MiniPCI card itself PLUS a driver CD marked “Intel PROSet/Wireless Software Version 9.0.1”.

Also, although it’s not clear, the MiniPCI card has a manufacture date of 12/4/2004.

I am posting these pictures just before I “rip into” my beloved TR2.

Hopefully, I’ll be posting more pics shortly.

Sweet! I have two on the way. One for my trusty TR and one for my beloved S (who is being molested by Sony Service right now).  :?

Combined with groovy’s Netegriti “how to take apart your TR” instructions, this was a piece of cake.

The layout, slotting, and antenna connections for the Intel 2915ABG card are identical to the Intel PRO/Wireless 2100 card and the Netegriti card.

The further good news is that the Intel software installed without a hitch.

I seriously, seriously couldn’t have hoped for an easier install.

Below are screenshots BEFORE the 2915ABG card was installed.

Sorry it’s not as clean nor as anywhere near as well done as groovy’s, but I’s a working man, and I’s got to get up early tomorrow to get work done to get Xmas started right.

Suffice to say, I’s pretty pleased.  :D

Especially for $35 and change with shipping from buy.com!

Right now:  Sitting at Starbucks near my house, on wireless, no problems with the new MiniPCI card.  (Although, this Starbucks only has 802.11b available!).

WiMAX is coming to downtown Seattle…and Speakeasy is the first one to offer it in the States.
