Mine was off ebay and as usual, no problems. Price has dropped a bit in 1 week. Now seeing them go for around £120.

Ebay can be trouble free if your carefull of who you buy from.

My seller also supplied full shop receipt so I get the warranty cover.

I got mine on release day from Dixons (UK), including GTA San Andreas and another game for £129! I didn’t realise there would be such a call for them, and I bought it on a whim as my original console has a (surprise) really loud fan..it is nicely chipped though..

Yeh dixons here had them too. Im guessing they’d keep them in stock where you are mate.

I own a game store in Australia….. We haven’t had PS2’s in stock for about 3 months now….. everytime we get a limited shipment, they sell out in 2 secs…. It’s actualy hurting our business quite bad.. being so close to xmas and no consoles to sell!.

I fail to understand the buzz. I have the ‘old’ PS2 and i do not understand why people already having a PS2 would want the ‘slim’ version. Seems a bit braindead to me.

Yeah, I don’t understand either. It might just because the slim one can save up more space in their living room!?    :ph34r:  I have tried most of the game shops in Manchester and apparently they are all run out of stock. BUT I haven’t tried the Dixons yet! Maybe I should give it a go tomorrow!  :D

Really? In MI they are litterally collecting dust…every store I go to has plenty in stock. The local Gamestop sold 2 since they came out. Maybe in more civilized areas they are actually selling.

I can confirm that in my Southern California area, there are literally tons of these devices unsold in stacks at my local Best Buys. Most people seem to already have a PS2 already. The only people I know who are getting them are ones who have had theirs break and don’t want to hassle with the service center. Additionally, most friends end up getting original PS2s since many of them have the hard drive kit already.

Probably quite a few people in UK don’t have a PS2 or their kids want one each. Also the price has dropped to the magic £100 range. Also think that ebay as created many opportunists who have made situation worse due to short supply. Many still for sale on UK ebay & prices are dropping quickly.

There are loads of them in belgium. I bought mine a few days before its launch date for just 142€ and now it’s around 149€. We use PAL too, the only things you need is a power plug converter (less than 2€ in most electronic shops ...)

I think it could be quite a good suggestion, worse come to worse I might be able to ask my friend who live in France to get out for me.  8)

I went down to Manchester city center yesterday to try my luck, Dixons sold out here, BUT I was lucky to pick up the second last PS2 slim in the GAME shop!  :D However, I’m just curious why all the machines are not shown in the shop, so initially I thought they have sold out until I asked one of the guy. He was kind weird to tell me silently that they do have it in store but you have to buy it as a package which come with a extra controller, memory card and 3 selection of games. Then he took out a paper with a list like 15 games name on it that I can choose 3 games, which is unformally hand written….all this just make feel like buying in a ‘black market’... :ph34r: Afterall, all this package cost me £195, which I think not too bad at all, considering it comes with extra accesories and 3 games. The games I’ve chosen are FIFA 2005, Kill Zone, and Need for Speed Underground 2.

Anyway, I’m a happy man now!  :mrgreen: Umm…not quite happy yet as I still waiting to receive my new S2VP from SonyStyle…  :wink:

I was just out for a drink with a mate of mine who’s also a gadget freak and he said that the lack of slim PS2s in the UK was due to a container ship being stuck in some canal behind an oil spil.  It’s not meant to arrive for another week or so yet.  That would explain why there are none in the UK but loads in the US :shock:
