I have been using AVG for a while and fully reccomend it, and I know there are other users on this forum that use it as well, that’s why I am posting this question.

On one of my systems I have been noticing that the auto scanner has been picking and choosing on its own which files to scan. This PC isn’t used often and the files should not vary this greatly.

Does anyone else’s log look as odd as mine?

Specifically, the objects. I can understand it can vary, but from day to day, XXX,XXX to XX,XXX?

The scanning times vary from 4 hours to 45 minutes.

I am thinking about writing to AVG to ask why its so different from day to day, but I want to know if others see the same thing, maybe its a bug of some sort.

I like it because it is unobtrusive and requires little resources. It has active protection as well as e-mail protection, does daily updates, and is totally free.

Perhaps it’s only checking files that may have changed since the last day? So, maybe it’s IE cache files or temp files, etc.?  :?:

I was thinking that (the changed files) but like I said, the computer is generally idle and the objects seem to fit a slight pattern…

Are your logs as varied as mine are?

I’ll know in a little bit…running a full scan right now. Also, you’d be surprised at how many little files gets changed in Windows everyday…of course, the discrepancy is still weird.

Mine isn’t like that at all.  When I check my log the number of objects stays relatively stable, with the number around 165k.

Well I went to go check my AVG but I seem to have a different version to you as my layout/style are different.  Also my test results don’t tell me how many objects were scanned, just date, time and status…

Yeah, you would think it would, but it didn’t. I learned of it when I gave the program to a friend and her’s was different then mine…
