Well laptop wise…...Toshiba 2130 ct 486 dx4-75, 8mb ram, 540mb hd , tft colour display,track point mouse, all normal ports you can still get it for £70.00! As I paid £2000 for my TR1MP, its shocking!

Commodore 64 with tape drive.  Later we upgraded to a 5.25” floppy drive and added an Okidata printer.  Glad to see the TRS80 show up on the list.  Did not own one, but my parents sent me to several Radio Shack training classes to learn how to program and use one.

Geez Louise, a 486/66 as a first computer… sheesh!  That’s 32-bits already!  I was in college when those came out…......... that was just yesterday (right?  right guys….. guys?)

For me—-> first computer owned was the venerable Vic20…... pure 8-color 8-bit programming heaven.  Though the first computer I ever touched/programmed was a Timex Sinclair with the rubber chicklet keyboard, back when I was six or so (when were they introduced?!?)—-> got help from a local parent getting the “clock” program in the manual working….............

Sigh.

Overall, though.  Nothing beats the C=64.

The first computer I used? mmm…. Digital PDP-11 slaved on a mini-VAX (circa 1980)

The first “computer” I owned?  A sinclair ZX-81 in 1982 (dubbed “programmable door-stop” by BYTE magazine).  I can still hear my mother complaining that the ZX-81 was going to “ruin” the TV set.

The first computer with real keys?  Of course, TI99/4A

My first real computer other than the Atari 2600 (remember pong?) was a Commadore 64…

I can still remember playing WIZARDRY for what seemed like forever on that thing!  Does anyone remember that game?  What a classic.  I would love for old time sake to play it again.  I was so happy to finally have a group of Ninja’s.  Nostalgia, ain’t it great?

Mine was a 486 DX4 with 16 mb RAM, 1.2 gb hdd. It was the best when I got it…in 1996. spent like Rs. 46000 on it which is approx. 1000 USD.

Damn, I played Hero’s Quest too!!! I remember that stack of 5 1/4 floppies…  those were the days. Later, I got a 20MB hard drive. XP warns me of “low disk space” when freespace drops under 200MB. Hmmm???
