How can u be so sure the other drive you have your OS on will not fail?
I use my maxtor drive individually i.e. no RAID array for me. I’ve installed sisoft sandra…could you tell me which tests to run within it?

I too have the ultra x-connect power supply…the one with orange lights. for sound card I have the audigy 2 zs platinum pro with 2.1 speakers :oops:

optical drive is a pacific digital dvd writer.

I have an ogre gaming case from Canada for 80 bucks with shipping. Just today I got a 250 gb 8 mb cache maxtor drive. I’ll install it one of these days (may be after my replacement drive from western digital comes in).

I havnen’t used it yet with my new system.  Like I said the new version doesn’t read 64 bit, atleast what I remember.

I would suggest looking into trouble shoot first your drive then your motherboard…

Thats just me…If you want to check them with software go right ahead.  I am sure there are utilities on SiS to test and see if something is indeed faulty…But, you then will have to change the hardware…

I would just skip the software part and start trouble shooting with the hdd and mobo.

PS. I have been having trouble with my light tubes.  All the ones I have had break.  I can tell that the are really cheap…I haven’t seen any quality ones around at Fry’s and Comp usa…Do any of you know where I might pick one of these up….

There was no option as such which said harddrive or motherboard. Any particular components you recommend testing, or what tests did you run? I have the 2005 version.

I’d usally run the basic overall test that scans your entire computer.  If there is an error it will tell you…

But, I wouldn’t count on this to do all the trouble shooting for you…In fact I’ve rarely use it for trouble shooting mostly use it when my computer is running good and just want to check up on it…

Also- doesn’t your Mother Board have a number display on it…What does it read?

I dont see any option to scan the entire computer (or a close enough match). Sorry, but I dont see any number display on my motherboard :?
