I’ve almost gotten used to Sony becoming cheap and all but I just bought another Sony product and I am really getting upset.

I purchased the USM-128U2. It’s a USB 2.0 128 Micro Vault. The MV has 2 loop holes for a neck strap (one on each side) yet one is not included with the MV. My PNY Attache came with one…SanDisks Razor includes one…

Fine. So I call SonyStyle to order a stap. No luck…they tell me to contact Replacement parts. So I do. They tell me there is a promotion and if I call SonyStyle I should get one for free. Ok, I call SS again. No luck, they don’t know about it. They tell me to call SS Customer Service. SSCS tells me that the promotion was if you bought a Vaio you got a MV and a strap…umm ok, so when you don’t pay for a MV you get a strap, but when you do…you don’t get one. SSCS tells me to call parts. I do…again no part #.

So, I gave up and ordered a generic one on ebay for $9. Grrr….it’s just annoying now.

Why am I drawn to Sony products again?

Actually, the strap IS the issue.  Characterizing something else as the issue is what’s getting the guy mad.

No, it’s not the strap, its the fact that I can’t get the strap. I see it this way:

1. The MV is about double the compeditors price.
2. Everyone else includes one.
3. It’s not really the strap its the fact that it has a place for the strap and sony wont sell me a strap.

I spent around 1 hour on the phone and I didn’t get a strap from Sony. I don’t even care if it was free or I paid, I just couldn’t get one. Thats whats getting me mad….not the $7 strap, the fact that I can’t seem to get one.

Yeah I agree the others are smaller and the MV is huge, but I really wanted the Sony.

Sony lanyards/neck straps aren’t too hard to come by, I have the ones from my my mp3 player and digital camera in a drawer. I guess I’ve gotten used to paying more for Sony stuff over the years because the products are just so cool, but things like this happen more often than they should. Apple is usually more responsive about stuff like this in my experience, they overnighted a set of port covers for my iPod when I complained about them being missing, and even threw in an extra set of earbuds for free.
