When I went to Canada last weekend I connected to the hotel’s high speed network via 10/100. Since then i’ve been having odd IE probelms.

Basically, for no apparent reason, something is forcing my cookie settings to deny all, and my security settings to ‘custom’. I lower cookie settings to accept all, then the security to lowest…15 minutes later, they are both reset. Its not a specific site i’m going to (as far as I can tell). Both Spybot and adaware come up with nothing, as does my virus scanner.

Anyone have a clue? It’s getting rather annoying, I am about to do a restore.

That sounds like a really strange problem but alas I have an idea, well two actually…

1.  Switch to firefox (yeah I kow everybody says it but it’s always a good idea)

2.  Reinstall Internet Explorer.

To do idea two go to the following link…

Grab a copy of Internet Explorer 6 and then try to install it on your system.  I don’t know if this will require the reinstallation of Service Pack 2 since this version of IE only has service pack 1 installed but if your getting ready to whipe your system I’m guessing you don’t really care.

Once Internet Explorer is reinstalled see if that fixes the mess.  If not repost and I’ll see what else I can dig up.

1. I hate this browser, and for some reason, the scroll button on the 505 doesnt work with it, so its not an option.

2. I can’t install SP2, one of the things I use is incompatable at this point.

Let me see if I can re-install IE instead of everything…i’ve just never seen or heard of anything like this before…strange.

Security went back to custom again…blocking all active X and Java, among other things…hell, half the internet doesn’t work, lol. 

Sill open to ideas before I restore on Saturday.
