Hello there This is my first post but I’ve been reading this forum for a while now.

Anywho, I’m very much considering getting a VAIO T150. I live in Canada and with exchange rate and taxes I could save aover $1000 CAD by driving down to Buffalo and buying it there.

My problem is I can’t find a Sony store in Buffalo. I don’t know how Sony operates in the States, but in Toronto here there’s a Sony Store in almost every major mall. I personally been to 4 different stores in the city and I’m sure there are more.

When I try to look for Sony locations on sonystyle.com it shows me something like 10 locations across the USA and none in Buffalo. I find it hard to believe that in the city of Toronto there are more Sony stores than in entire USA.

So I wonder if anyone could put me on the right track? Where do I get a T150 in Buffalo?

And buffalo doesn’t..

Yeah..there are alot more Sony stores in Canada..
I don’t think I’ve seen one since I moved to the bay area..

Your best bet is to try electronic stores…best buy or circuit city..

I think part of the dearth of Sony stores is that the US has so many big chain retailers who usually beat Sony prices.

I’d also check smaller chains like CompUSA or, if you have freinds in the US, buying on-line. The latter can save you $100’s in sales tax.

hm… that’s really odd, i thought sony would be all over and everywhere…

I’m defenetely going to stay away from BestBuy… i’ve heard way too many horror stories and now that BBB is investigating them… It’s a no-no for me, especially that I have to rent a car and take an hour long drive.

Thank you for suggesting CompUSA though, they have a convinent Buffalo location and ability to “hold” an item at any store for 72 hours if it’s in stock

did you try to order it from a non sony shop but sony dealer ??
( don t know if i made myself clear :?  )

I don’t want to buy it online because I would get charged all the taxes when it croses the border… so i have to physicaly go to the store in Buffalo and pick it up there… :(

I’m curious if anyone tried to get the tax back when leaving the states? Can you get the tax back and then say you aren’t bringing anything when entering Canada? :D
