I’ve been playing that Dell game, Dellf, and I got a 25% off Dell 26” LCD TV. It’s just the excuse I need to buy a new TV.

The TV is $1899 with a $400 mail in rebate. Dell now charges tax, so after my coupon its $1509.00 shipped…with $400 back.

I called up Dell to get approved for their line of credit, which I did. They said there is a glitch in the system so I can’t order for 24 hours.

Meanwhile, I found a loophole. If you say you want to pay with a CC, they offer you another 2% off for using thier Credit. So now the price is $1470.00 before rebate, shipped. However, I still can’t order it.

The $400 rebate ends today, I hope my credit will work by 12:01am tonight…

So frustrating.

That truly sucks. Institutional idiocy is the worst kind. Just so you don’t feel too bad, here’s a FedEx sob story from a friend of mine. A few weeks ago he ordered a shiny new 20” iMac. It shipped from Shanghai and was scheduled to be delivered Wed. This morning the delivery changed to today. That NEVER happes with FedEx. They usually hold my stuff in Newark for a day or so because I didn’t order overnight or 2-day delivery. Anyway… The Yin and Yang balanced because they decide to ship it to East 29th instead of West 29th. And some fucker signed for it. Now if FedEx gets the box back in one piece, my friend gets it. Otherwise, it goes back to Apple and they send him another.

For those of you who don’t know Manhattan, 5th Ave is the east/west dividing line for most of the island. For streets, numbers start at 5th and go towards the edges of the island in opposite directions. Checking the W or E on a street number is pretty basic for any New Yorker, especially someone who delivers packages for a living. And before anyone asks, E 29th and W 29th are in different zip codes…

Oh thats harsh. Nice explaination of E/W Manhattan…I can’t tell you how many times I met people in the city who didn’t know if they were on E or W…read the damn sign!
