They showed up on the Cingular site and in the stores this week. Went to look at one tonight and didn’t want to put it down. Styling is as classy and high-tech as anything Sony or Apple could come up with. Beautiful phone.

i have actually had this phone for over a month and have thoroughly enjoyed it.  it replaced my aging t68i, and with some style.  i’ve been able to use it with WAP and GPRS, linked by btooth to my Palm TT and TR.  This has been the best and most thorough review, in my opinion:

I ended keeping the V3 and returning the S700i, which was somewhat disappointing. The V3 has Bluetooth and works really well as a phone, which is all I really need considering all the gadgets I have on me at all times.

can the phone utilize the SE only software to control TR via bluetooth? i dont remember the software name, but it’s the one that can control winamp, apps, etc.

No, it most likely will not support the SE software since it’s a Motorola phone using an entirely different OS and hardware.

i checked out one of these about a month ago, and i gotta say i loved it.  if you’re looking for a truly beautiful phone, that will gain some attention this is surly the phone for you.  i’ve been looking for a new phone for a while now, but can’t seem to get rid of my nokia 8890.  i’m the type that doesn’t need all the gadgets and whatevers, just a sexy phone that actually feels nice when it’s in your hand.  i also like the nokia 6170 or motorola e398.  had the motorola e398 for a spell to test out and can’t say enough good things about it, although i did decide to let it go because i wanted a clam shell or something with a slide.

I didn’t expect the V3 would work with FMA. Some of the newer SE phones like the P800 don’t work either.

Motorola has software for sync and file transfer so the only loss is the remote control functions. Since the phone supports Java someone may come up with something.

So the OS is embedded right? can’t reflash it? Or would that mean extensive reworking of some other Linux/Symbian/Windows derived code?

Is it possible period to reflash a phone and install a new OS? (That is without having worked for a mobile phone software company or the like.)

i assume developing a new program like float might be easier than developing a new os to put on the v3

The V3 runs Symbian… pretty well known OS for mobile devices.

This phone is $500 at Cingular. Just a bit pricy for me. The camera is only VGA quality and the display I saw had a loose hinge and a rubber screw cover missing. If that’s any indication of how this phone will endure I’m not impressed. Even the Motorola logo on the rear seems to show wear. Yes it looks so sexy and the keypad feels like something made by starfleet. However, I’d rather wait to see this phones cheaper successor.

Sorry to break the mood guys, but this phone is a ripoff.

Aside from a few video features and cosmetic gimmicks and a color external LCD display, i found no difference between the Razr’s operation and my V600. The screen is larger than the V600 but the resolution is the same, so everything is large and blocky. The camera is the same. Volume is slightly better for ringtones.

For the money, you can save $200-300, get a motorola Vx00 (400, 500, 600) and get the same thing. If you jump to the V710 or V810, you’ll get more (but not on GSM providers).

It’s not worth the money. Someone convince me otherwise; I was excited for it until I played with it. It’s not worth the $500 unless you’re that metrosexual.
