Sorry to hear about the loss of your iPod. As noted in this thread, I too am pretty reluctant to submit my e-mail address to the site you mentioned. However, there may be a light at the end of this tunnel.

You indicate that you are a high school student, but I didn’t notice your age. If you happen to be near 18 (or perhaps with your parent’s consent), the U. S. military awaits you. It’s a wonderful life, full of adventure, where you’ll be able to learn new skills and possibly learn to accept responsibility for your actions.

Here’s the deal, you provide me with proof of your enlistment with a minimum of two years of active duty in any branch of the armed services (I’m particularly fond of the Navy, but it’s your choice) and I’ll buy you a new iPod free and clear! You get a new iPod, your country gets a new recruit and your parents can be proud to have raised such a patriotic son.

The next move is up to you.

Yes. I was in the Navy…not a career, just two years active duty and another 4-plus in the reserves. I was an intelligence officer and served most of my active duty time at a tiny base in the Philippines called Sangley Point between 1969 and 1971 (long before iPods).
