Well its not cheap.

From memoryx.com it will set you back $400 and there is free shipping over $100 spent.  They do have also, the PC2100 displayed for sale.  International orders are accepted, but the countries are limited.  In the check out portion the countries are listed.

From swissbit webshop it is running at $369, but it will ship from Germany.  They do offer international shipping, but i have no idea what shipping would cost.  Another thing right now is that they do not have the PC2100, only PC2700, memory on the webshop.  It has to be ordered by special request.  They stated that shortly, the PC2100 memory module will up on the webshop.  The actual memory module needs to be requested.  The part number has been previously mentioned.

Well to save a bit on memory… you could simply get a 1GB stick and then use the 512mb stick you’ve got already…
1.5 GB… PLENTY

I’ll probably be one of the ones who does upgrade my S to 2GB of memory. My photoshop projects are getting out of hand and 1GB doesn’t cut it. I work with pretty large file sizes and normally up the history and undo up to 99 or more states so it eats memory like crazy. Also, with all the layer comps I use the file sizes get gigantic.

However, it will have to wait until after Christmas shopping is done. We’ll see what’s left in the budget…unless I get some more client work that can justify the expense.  :wink:

Of course, I’ll let you all know when I do make the plunge…although my desktop system is going to get crazy jealous since it too has 2GB of memory. It too may also want an upgrade as well… :D

For those who are interested, the PC2100 module will be available on the swissbit website soon. I emailed them guys and they said it will be displayed soon. I’m thinking of upgrading my TR this christmas so i will be placing an order soon.

I plan to upgrade too.  Not till the holiday season is over, though.  To much other stuff to take care of and being a student doesn’t help with the funding for expensive upgrades.

One stick should more than do it.  For what i use my TR3 for.

What i am really waiting for is the MK6006GAH 60GB HDD to come out. 
Too bad it doesn’t come out until late fourth quarter.

I think the only HD ill ever upgrade my TR to will be a 7400 RPM one !

Are there any other firms making cheaper RAM modules, cheaper than 369 $ for the 1 GB ram module offered by swissbit.

Right now…no. Perhaps Kingston will eventually but Swissbit is the first and thus, the most expensive solution. Of course, relatively speaking, their prices aren’t that bad when you consider how much Sony charges for 512MB dimms.  :wink:

Holy moly….just checked Kingston’s site and 512MB DIMMS (PC2700) for the S and T series are $322! That makes swissbit’s prices even better.

I totally agree, SONY does charge an arm and a leg for their memory.

The SWISSBIT memory isn’t that badly priced for 1GB of RAM and when i checked, the shipping rates were not bad either.  It was only $20 for shipping and handling to the US.

I am still debating upgrading, becuase when I used CPU-Z to see exactly what chipset was on the motherboard.  I come to find out that it is a i852GM.  I checked the specs at INTEL and they are horrible.  That chipset will only run, any MICROdimm memory, at only 133mhz.

More RAM will always help, but with an outdated chipset running at 133mhz I am not sure that upgrading would make a large impact from the 512MB I already have.  The money would, probably, be better invested in trying to obtain a newer version of the motherboard with a better chipset.  Or saving for a new notebook.
