So… Why do you go into forums? Specifically this one but I know I frequent 3 so… Why?

I personally don’t think I have to get away from my life, especially not by using a forum. But I like “geeky stuff” and I’m at least always interested to read something about it.

This is my only forum, and though I only went here to read about the VAIO, I now tend to visit it quite often. The reason is simple: I’m a Software Architect and during the day there are often some periods where you just have to wait for one particular task to finish. Sometimes you can do something else in the meantime, but sometimes it wouldn’t be worth it or the operation is to crucial to continue with something else.

So, getting away from something or living another life - no, not at all.
Fighting boredom - yes, sometimes.

I picked number 4, but you forgot #5, Tech Support.

That’s why I am here.  I was able to find where to get cheaper memory for my TR3A and along the way also discovered how to add bluetooth to my computer after Sony screwed us out of it in the US.

Alot of the forums I frequent (Nikonians, 1src.com (formerly ClieSource), Tivo Community and Satellite Internet) are because I own those products and want to keep up on the latest news, tips and fixes.

Mainly to post sarcastic comments during downtime or brain breaks at work.

I came here originally for the content. Few people choose a random forum just to register and post anything, I would imagine (one obvious exception coming to mind…).

I have learned a lot of good stuff from very knowledgeable and very nice people on this forum. I have also wasted my time looking at useless yet hilarious links posted by some with a great sense of humour!

i learned and get to know many new stuffs from here.. i love this place.

I wasn’t really aware of the problem until recently and I’m getting something from my doctor for it. He’s hopeful it will cure my chronic Foot-In-Mouth Disease problem too.
