I looked in the service manual i have but they had the UJDA745 featured in it so that wont really help you. Search a bit more in this forum you might find it.

I am interested in UJ-822 also. 
I plan on keeping my TR pretty much indefinitely and I do not currently have a DVD-RW driven in my TR.  So it would be a nice addition.

Does anybody have the specs for the drive?

It would be great if the drive had DL capabilities, but i don’t think it does.

it supports double standard but not dual layer.  i guess if u want dual layer, u have to wait for another year, but by that time, probably sony comes up with blueray dvd for laptop and then u want that and then u wait again, by the time it makes it to laptop, new standard is out and list go on….

BlueRay is going to make a fortune for Sony.

The Super Multi DVD+-R 8X with DL…already comes out in 12.7mm
The 9.5mm may comes out next year~~
