Hello,

I like the DVD-RW burner in my Sony TR. But I’d like the DVD+/-RW burner that comes with the T series even more.

So… is there a way to replace it, what do you think?

That is a great idea since they pretty much the same notebook and specs.  I do not know for sure if the drive 9.5mm, i would think so.

I wonder just how similar things are.  I am really curious to know if the motherboard is the same as the TR.  If so upgrading the TR would be as easy as swapping the motherboard assembly out.

Does anybody if the motherboard or any other of the internals of the T are the same as the TR?

I’d assume they are similar, someone else might know better thou.

Especilally the DVD-RAM 3X… it shorten time to backup my files
The DVD+-R Drive in T series, is called UJ-822
The Sony USA will not release…
But I still have some left….
UJ-812 already sold out

the 812, from what I have found since is region locked with no apparent firmware upgrade to make it region free.

It’d be interesting to know if anyone has tried this and if the 822 can be made region free?
