hi everybody,

i just found out about Cherry OS soft that lets your Windows machines run Mac OS X. Have you guys heard about it? A trial version should be released on November 25, 2004 ( http://www.cherryos.com/ )

Do you know any good soft to make win look like mac os? I m using win blinds now as well as mobby dock, happy with it but still looking for a tool that ll give me nice icons as well as objects i could put on my desktop wall paper.

I can rememeber way back when I was counting… Now I’m over 1250 and have the rank of “Uber Geek.”

How the hell did you manage to make 1250 post in only 4 months
you must be posting all day long coze 1250 post in 4 months makes you an average of +/- 11 post a day.. waouw :shock:

I have tried desktopX but i got more crashes than anythin else :?

Nah, I’m a duffer. Chris swept past me a month or so ago. I still have to think about what I’m going to post.

My experience with emulators is that they *almost* work. There always seems to be a glitch of some kind. I’d suggest letting them release the product and see what the pundits have to say. Being on the bleeding-edge, unless you REALLY need the product, can be painful.

I guess I’ve got an old fogey mindset, I’ve never gotten too excited about busy desktops and never saw much value in trying to make a PC look like an Apple. I’ve tried a few desktop tools like Sidebar and ended up removing them for various reasons, usually overhead. Sometimes I even miss a blank screen and >. 

I seem to recall a thread or two here by other Applephiles regarding giving the TR an Apple facelift. You might try searching.

CherryOS is an emulator. You will have to have a copy of OSX to install onto CherryOS. Basically you get a real OSX install in a window. Best to download PearPC if you go that route. It’s free and was the origin of CherryOS’s code.

The best place for info on making Windows look and feel like a Mac is Aqua-Soft . Of course you can also buy a Mac…

Thats why I run geoshell .

I’ve just been reading up about cherryos and the general theme seems to be that it’s all a hoax.  Although that was on the PearPC forum so it could be biased, but they make some valid points, like how similar the few screen shots look and how the website keeps changing!

Yeah Cherry was on /. awhile back, nobody seems to think it’s any original code as far as I remember.

Well I got pearpc to work and managed to install Mac OS X, but I don’t know this OS and so wanted to ask about installing stuff.
I downloaded msn messenger and it was put on the desktop and up came an icon which I clicked on and it installed itself.  So now it’s in my dock and I have the downloaded file and another icon which looks like a diskdrive called ‘msn messenger 4’.
So can anyone explain what’s going on… it’s all just too different from windows and I can’t find a website which will explain it for me :(
