If you read my review of the x505 you know that I was unhappy with the case that is provided. I see no use for a case without a strap of some sort. I also don’t see velcro as a reasonable use to close the case, it makes too much noise to open and close in a business/class environment. Also, the case didn’t provide a place to put the A/C cord.

I had a custom case made for my TR and I was very happy with every aspect of it. When I realized the x505 case just wouldn’t cut it, I contacted the maker of the TR case and asked if he had cases for the 505. He told me he did not but he was willing to make one up. Unlike my TR case, I asked for no front pocket, I wanted the case as thin as possible.

The case turned out exactly as I wanted it to. Below are the pics. You’ll notice it’s slightly larger then the 505 itself, and its actually smaller then the x505 OEM case. The A/C case is removable so I only take it along when I need to.

And thanks for the info where to get one. I think I’ll keep it in mind when I receive my X505. Can’t wait!! Of course, I haven’t found a good case for my TR yet (except for a Targust case made for a portable DVD player; the Sony Vaio case was not a great case and I regret paying $40 for it from CDW). I hope with the X505, things will be different.

Nice custom case…I would never think to have one built…I usally go with the manufacture one’s…But, that sony one looks like its real ugly…

since i’m about to get my x505, i was wondering what other users were doing when it comes to carrying cases. please share what kind of bags you guys use and why. thanks!

I am very satisfied with the supplied cases for X505. I just bought the carrying bag for it (PCGA-CCB2) and everything fits in it nicely. BTW, if anyone wants to get one I have one extra(brand new) and willing to sell it.

vaiofreak, how heavy is the bag? i’ve found several sites with dimensions, but wanted to get an idea of how heavy and sturdy it is.
