i finally got to see the type of monitor the x505 uses
it’s nice. i dunno where you guys get “ugly horrible nothing like xbrite”
true, but xbrite gets annoying at times. the lcd actually seems too crystal glare like. the screen on the v505 and x505 gives the monitor a softer look without the extra glare and eye strain. i spend uber amount of hours behind my computer and the glare gets my eyes pretty tired. i know this sounds weird but i actually do like the non-xbrite screens.

Thats exactly what I have been saying, less glare.
[quote author=“jso902a”]x505 is back on sonystyle.
I’m tempted to pick one up, but I like the look of the carbon fiber model better. Maybe if the price drops a little more I could swing it. SonyStyle says the X505 is exclusive to them, but a bunch of other reputable stores carry it, I wonder what the deal is with that.

Yay!! Long live the X505! It was just too good for Sony to pull from the audience .... especially with Christmas coming soon. Some woman is going to make some husband a lucky guy this year.
[quote author=“Chris687”][quote author=“OnMyWayUp”][quote author=“Chris687”]lol is that even a word…
What?
I meant the USDA. United States Department of Agriculture. You’ve never noticed a USDA Approved thing on your milk cartons?
I know what lol means “laugh out loud.” I was making fun of myself of saying that I didn’t know what it meant…
When in reality I do…Sorry If you misunderstood my joke. :(
LOL no I didn’t mistake you… didn’t even think about it that way til now just was confused with what you were saying… don’t think i was really focusing when I said that
Looks like they pulled X505 from SonyStyle again… I wonder what’s in store??? They are renewing their V series desktops (VGC-V520G looks nicer) and W series is gone as well…I wonder if they are gonna bring the M series (EU has it listed already).
VAIO Zone software looks like a nice piece…and looks exactly like Do VAIO..oops…sorry got distracted.
How is your X505 Erik? Any new accomplishments with it?
P.S. Ubid sold one of their X505 for $1603!!! And they were extending their 10 minute action thingy on purpose for 2 hours for the bids to rise.
I think the X505 was a laptop too far ahead of its time to survive due to certain limitations. I feel it would have survived if it had BT, wide Xbrite screen, bigger HD. Heck, I would buy one today and not be very peeved about lack of an interior DVD. I can’t help but think Sony has a successor waiting in the wings though. Though we send the X505 to that laptop Heaven in the sky I’m sure it will be looked upon as a pioneer to future designs, like the upcomming Samsung Q30?

You mean in their own privacy right?
Anyway X505 really looks cool, I always see it at Fry’s.. but man 20GB.. what do you guys use it for most of the time? Do you guys carry external HDD? That’ll be sad though beats the purpose of mobility at its size..
I use it for my every day tasks and work. Space is not a problem for me at all. Though I did buy a VAIO HD which is very portable and small with iLink/DC capability in case I will need more space. Internet use, Word, spreadsheets and anything else you want work great of course. I am not intending to play Halo or run heavy duty programs on this baby, because I have no need for it. It is just a regular notebook - only very light and eXtremely portable.
