Hi all,
I am new to this site and thinking of getting a tr2a or z1 (leaning towards tr).  Was wondering about battery life.  Is it as advertised in terms of lasting 7 hours?  Can you watch a dvd and still have a couple of hours left over?  thanks for your responses.

I get about 4 hours normal usage (screen on half brightness, WiFi on, constant usage in word processing, web surfing, e-mail, watching video clips and listening to music). As far as DVD watching goes, I crank the screen brightness close to maximum, so after a 2 hour movie I only have about an hour of battery life left. Sony said the TR1 would get 7 hours usage, but they dropped it to 6 for the TR2. Of course manufacturer’s battery claims are based on you turning it on, leaving it on the lowest brightness setting, and doing nothing until it runs out of juice.

7?! don’t even think about getting close to 5. i only get about 4hrs on average.

On battery, I have my monitor set at the third bar - fairly low - and the optical drive off.  The monitor’s also set to shut off after 15 seconds of inactivity.  With this setup, I typically get close to, but not quite, 5 hours. 

The battery life leaves more to be desired, but relatively speaking, it’s one of the best out there.  Until we get the power efficient OLED screens in laptops and more advanced battery technology, this is as good as it gets.

23 charges and the battery has dropped to 47.41Wh. i’m very, very disappointed.
