It was wierd I barely if at all use my desktop anymore….My TR and T have been great supplements…I believe now that it could be a desktop replacement….

Thanks for the info on the hinges. Yes, it is just the plastic that snaps on the top of the actual hinge and not the hinge itself.

In some ways, I still liked the quality of my tr better with the exception of the outside coating on the metal.  Seems more forgiving than the scratch scuff prone tr outside case.  The inside (open) grey plastic does not seem quite as nice as on the tr.  However, I accidently dropped the power supply brick on on it yesterday (next to the touchpad) and not even a scratch or ding.  Phew!!!  Maybe it is just ugly, but tough none the less.

I actually think the quality of the T is better….With the hing on my TR it was loose and would easy fall all the way back when in use….

I noticed that other people complained about this…With the T it is very tight….Nothing to worry about when you want to keep it in place…And I agree that it isn’t very exciting once you open it…But, it does look clean and professional….I do like the outside finishing….Very solid built and the midnight blue looks really nice…

I do love the keyboard though…It is very easy to type on….I feel like it is very close to the S…

One thing that the T has going for it that I didn’t see in the P series or TR series is when you have it open and are working on it….Seems like almost a full size notebook or like the size of the S….and the TR and the P seem small….

Does anyone agree with this or is it just me…

I think hinges are bound to loosen with time.  It’s just one of those things you have to live with.  Damn moving parts!

I have the same problem with horizontal lines appearing when the screen is moved (only when i am opening or closing or moving the screen from the right hand side). It is definetly a hardware problem. I am opening and closing the TR1MP at least 6 or 7 times each day and have had this notebook for 18 months of very heavy use. Bring it in a porter bag everywhere I go.

So I think that I will have to open up the hinge and have a look at the wiring ( I am assuming it is a wire or cable that is worn out ). Anyone have a similar experience?

My friends TR is doing exactly what you said. Must be a common fault that its’ hinge wears out.

I can’t really compare too much quality-wise with the TR and T since I’ve only played with my friends TR for a short amount of time. I like both models, but just very happy I waited the month for the T series to come out. I find the styling and engineering to be A+.

I just much prefer the more simplictic styling of the T series to the TR. A TR would be a bit too flashy too pull out in a meeting. I think its styling is more geared for a younger crowd. The camera etc I found looked tacky and unprofessional.

The keyboard and DVD buttons are what really impresses me though. I didn’t think it would be possible to have such a great keyboard on something so small. Awesome feel to them.

Anways, it looks like the driver update has fixed my screen issue.

I completely agree…Thats what I been trying to sell to some of the members on this board that haven’t tried the T….The keyboard is so much better than any sub-notebook I have ever typed on…I like it even compared to my desktop logitech…

It really feels great and is a lot easier to type on…
