Man, I’ve received so many of those damn virus e-mails this week. Luckily, I’m using Norton Antivirus running to keep bad scripts and e-mails out.

Also, Microsoft’s Outlook 2003 does a pretty good job of handling spam. I’m actually pretty impressed with it.

What do the rest of you use to handle spam? All I know is that McAfee SpamKiller is awful. It’s a CPU hog and is prone to crashing even on fairly pristine installations.

Well, I don’t think the two notebooks are in the same class. The TR is more of an all-in-one subnotebook while the x505 is the bare minimum and everything is external and needs to be attached. Also, the x505’s battery life and screen are nowhere near the TRs. Of course, if you don’t need that then the x505 might work well for you.

I’ve also been deluged with spam/virus e-mails a lot in the past week, especially at my work address. The weird thing is that most of the e-mails have the return addresses of my co-workers, so it looks like their machines have been compromised. Stop clicking on random attachments, people! Outlook 2003’s spam filtering has really impressed me as well, and has only gotten better with the spam definitions update Microsoft released recently.

It’s hard not to feel like a god among men when people come up to me asking about the virus, even though our email scanner actually catches the virus, just not the bouncebacks.

Co-worker: “I found a suspicous email, what do I do?”
Me: “Did you open it?”
Them: “No.”  (Constant repetition has paid off here - they know I will make fun of them)
Me: “Just delete it.”
Them: “Oh.” (Leaving, as if to ponder something profound)

I’ve had this conversation a lot today.
