I just ordered the TR2AP3 notebook from clearnanceclub.com & they wanted additional verification for my payment. They wanted a photoed copied credit card (front & back) & driver’s license & some release form. Apparently I never ordered anything on online. And I feel really expose with my information… I did trust the clearanceclub.com because many people ordered from that site for refurbished TR notebooks but are they that reliable? What policy do they have for this situation? This is a serious issue!! who knows what they’re going to do with my bank information & things like that!! I’m really scared too…  :cry:

So if anyone who ordered their TR notebook from clearanceclub.com, please post some reply here. It would really help those who are going to buy the product in this site.  :!:  :!:  :!:

If you’re truly worried about this whole transaction, you should check with your credit card company to make sure they have some sort of fraud protection in the event that something bad happens with this transaction. Most credit cards do have some sort of no-fault protection but you should check.

Occasionally, some places will ask for verification if you have no purchase history. In some cases, it’s a good thing because some companies use it to make sure someone isn’t using stolen credit card information. The one thing you should check is to make sure they don’t charge you until the product ships. If they do then you may want to call your credit card company to have them block the charges.

At any rate, don’t be too impatient. You may want to double check with the company to see if they actually have the product in stock and have sent it. If they give you a shipping number to you can track the package.

So what happened with clearanceclub.com ?  I ordered from them aswell last friday and had to do that whole schpeeel also, did you ever receive your TR?  I know they received mine at my home in the states and will be forwarding it to me on monday.  I am studying abroad in Ireland and was shopping around in the city and “unfortunately” went into the sony store and saw the tr1… I couldn’t stop looking at it…  A half hour later I was convinced I needed one.  My Dell 8200 is awesome but its not simple to lug around, so I argued internally over night and woke up craving a tr1!  But after some investigation I learned of the tr2 in the states and didn’t particularly want to pay the 3700euros they were charging for the tr1 (yeah, electronics are way over priced here, especially when you throw in the exchange rate).  So after I placed an ad in the local paper offering to sell my Dell and found a buyer I knew it was fate…  So I shopped around and found clearanceclub to have the best price, even though it is a refurb tr2ap3.  So I bought the extended warranty for 200$ bringing my warranty to 3 years for the tr2ap3 at a total price of 2300$.  And so this is where the story of me and my tr begins…  in Ireland (hopefully I won’t get busted for importing it, even though it is for personal use!)  I guess the lesson is, the TR finds you.. you don’t find the TR.  (And since mine is a refurb it’s like going to the humane society rather than the pet store, ahhhh how good it feels to know I saved a TR =)
