My TR2AP3 is also scheduled to be delivered today!

I purchased it direct from SonyStyle.com. In addition to a good price and free overnight shipping, it comes with a $100 “e-coupon” that I am going to apply towards Sony’s extended 3-year accidental breakage warranty.

This accidental damage warranty covers everything the standard factory does, but adds the coverage in case anything breaks from getting dropped, spills, getting run over by a semi- truck (the Sony rep actually used that last example). Best of all is a Sony warranty and is backed up by Sony and not some 3rd party that could go bankrupt a year from now.

The cost for this warranty is $315. With the $100 “e-coupon” the net cost to me drops down to $215 for 3-years. Pretty reasonable I think.

If such an upgrade exists for tr2A I need it too..

It’s not fair for the ones who have already bought their TR2A’s to get stuck with only one year warranty.

If any of you SONY people are reading this please mind 2 things:

1. Support for Drivers (get serious at last.. and upload the correct drivers for camera, buttons, etc..)
2. Extended warranty

(come to think of it we need support + support..)

The 3yr accidental warranty (which is on-site repair, BTW) is Sony product number VSPCGA-3SYLPA. The Sony retail cost is $315.99.

You are correct about not being able to find this on the SonyStyle web site. Very strange. However, before I bought my TR2 last week, I had the SonyStyle sales-rep fax me a copy of the plan. After looking it over I was satisfied that it was legit.

Here are some of the details I cut & pasted regarding this warranty:

Designed for VAIOr Notebooks, providing the same benefits as the Onsite Extended Service as well as coverage against accidental damage (spills, drops, falls, broken screens, etc.)

Onsite service will be provided by Banctec, an Authorized Sony Service Provider. Depending on parts availability, customers may allow up to 72 hours for onsite services.

Accidental Damage Protection Extended Service May NOT be sold in the following states: AK, AR, DC, DE, FL, IA, ID, LA, MA, MN, MO, NC,NJ, OH, PA, TN

Extended Service may be sold on any eligible VAIO product with at least 30 days remaining on the original Sony warranty.

You must register your extended service within 30 days of purchase to qualify for service.

I also did a Google search on VSPCGA-3SYLPA and this same plan can be purchased from some authorized Sony dealers at a slightly lower price than SonyStyle (still not as cheap as if you apply the $100 e-coupon). Examples of this are below.

you can find that extended warranty for about 250 bucks including tax and shipping…sony is selling it for 315 - 100 ecoupon + tax+shipping…you are better off buying the same sony warranty somewhere else and using the $100 ecoupon for something else…like the new sony dsc-t1 5mp digital camera that just came out . :D

I’m reading the above service agreement and it says:

11. Claims Limits.
Out of Warranty Program - Claims are Limited to 1000$ per claim and 2000$ for all covered equipment during the 12 month term.Broken parts that are unavailable(obsolete) will not be covered; replacement/pay-out will be offered in lieu of repair.

What about if my screen will be damaged in 2,5 years from now and most likely it will not be availabele as a part. They will only pay me Max. 1000$ which is not going to cover replacement value for my TR3A Notebook with $2199 MSRP price. Also, I do not think that TR4A or TR5A in 2,5 years will cost less that 1000$ new.
