I am a bit fed up with Norton slowing up my pc. And I can’t gt 2005 to install without a hccup.
Best advice for replacemnet please.
Is this a good alternative?
 

Mcafee virusscan should be a good alternative.

AVG is great, and free for personal use.

I notice they also have a $25 off mail in rebate for owners of other virus protection programs which makes the price only $25. It’s a great product that I’ve used after trying Norton and McAfee. PC-cillin is easy to install, prompts you when a new data file is available, has spam protection, etc. It runs and works…not much better than that.

I also use AVG from http://www.grisoft.com. However, I’m using the professional version which I believe is a slightly updated engine over the free version. At any rate, it’s unobtrusive, seems to run pretty quick and is light on the system resources. It also integrates with outlook and my download manager so no complaints here.

I second that.  I’m running PC-cillin and it’s cheap, fast, and very good at eliminating viruses.  They also have a free trial so you can check it out for no cost.

I added the url on the original post as I gather it is the same as the new Zonealarm av. Has anyone tried using the Zonealarm av?

I use Avast Antivirus on my desktop. Free for home use.

I forgot to mention that AVG’s licence for the Professional version is $33.30…but that’s for a 2 year subscription! So, it works out to $16.65/year which is dirt cheap. Well, not as dirt cheap as FREE but still a phenomenal deal considering how much Norton and McAfee charge.

I use EZ firewall and Anti virus by Computer Associates.. Comes along with a free one year subscription with the XP SP2 CD.

I have gone for the option of the EZ free for a year. As MS recommends it it should be good.
However, i cannot seem to get the autodownload option to work with the wireless connection. I have a problem with my analogx proxy. It won’t let me connect to ftp sites.
If anyone can shed any light on this problem i would be very grateful.Otherwise i shall always have to update via the modem.
