Hello!  :D :D FAB-FORUM!!!    I have JUST purchased my new TR3A and I am in LUUURRRVEEEE :D

Is anyone able to tell me how to connect to the INTERNET??? (I am in the UK) - unfortunately - I am sooo totally not computer-minded .... so much so that it took me about 5 mins to work out how to open my TR when I got it outta the box - duh!!  :oops:

Also - is there anyway that you are able to avoid that musical sound each time the PC is turned on and off? :?:

If ure using BT and have a connection like i do ( 512 MBPS ) then u just have to connect the ADSL modem ( green box ) to the USB port of your TR and install the BT world software from the cd. Thats it, type your password and username and ure ready.    If not , then ure probably using a phone line, in which case u have to connect the phone cable into your TR (on the right side) and then make a new connection through start menu/all programs/accessories/communications/make new connection wizard. Type in the number, password and username and ure set.

If your using the TRs built in LAN card than u need to type in ure IP address and the subnet in the properties tab of your LAN card which shows up in control panel/network and internet connections/network connections ( i think ) and ure set.

is it the windows boot sound or the vaio boot sound?

hold down f2 to enter the bios once you see the sony boot logo and you can change it there.. or use the sony notebook setup utility(uncheck the “show boot animation”).

you can change the windows boot sound with the sounds and audio devices in control panel.

I usually use Broadband - I think it is cable - and the internet is working on my desktop.

Sadly you need to install wireless on your desktop, Or you can connect using a lan cable. In which case you won’t avail your self of the wireless utility!
Either way you will have to create a network, type ‘networking’ into the search facility on this site and you will find lots of help on the subject

did you ever solve that sound problem? Otherwise go to “start” “settings” ( i guess it s called like since i have a french XP… is it not “control panel” ?) then you go to “sound settings”.
there you can change the sound settings like the ones when Win turns on/off, when an error occurs ect…

Also, don t say you are not computer minded.. for someone who just got on the net.. you already found us.. congrats :ph34r:

Currently if you have only 1 machine at your place then mostly the cable modem must be plugged directly into the ethernet port of your desktop. To get wireless, you’ll need to buy a wireless router. Then the cable modem will be plugged into the router and you’ll have a cable going from the router to the desktop. Since the router will be wireless the TR can use the wireless connection. If you dont get a wireless router you’ll need to use a cable to plug into the router just like the desktop.
