Hey guys,
when i open and use internet explorer it works fine.  but when i close window for internetplorer the error comes up over and over that says a problem occured and this program will have to be shut down..blah blah blah…and it’s not like it shuts down in the middle of when i’m using it just right after i close the internet browser that error come up again and again….any ideas on how to reslove this without having to use the recovery disc?????????????????

Well the obvious answer is simply to never close internet explorer.  Although that’s a viable option for yours truly, it’s probably not for you.  My best educated guess would be to either

A. Update IE from the Microsoft Website hoping that gets rid of your warning

B. Reinstall IE, just download it from microsoft.com

C. Just use Netscape, it came with my Sony TR…

I’m sure linc, groovy, rahul, tifosiv, onmywayup, etc. (the more educated sony peoples) will probably know better as to what to do…but there probably asleep cause it’s 4:31 am here, EST.

I’m still up…but I have no idea what the error is…I need a bit more details.

the error is the common error that comes up in windows sometimes that says “an error has occured int eh program and needs to be shut down do u wish to report this to microsoft?” 
    And what i jus tfigured out is this…if i initially open the browser from the desktop shortcut and then open a new window in addition to the orgiinal one( by ctrl+n) and then close the original one the error will not show up, even when i close the new window and IE is totally closed….so basically it only happens if the last browser window that I end up closing is the intial one that opens when u click on the IE shortcut to open the browser, how weird is that ??!?i hope im explaning this clearly.  I tried to download IE from microsoft but when i tried to install it it said that a new version of IE is already on my computer and it cannot install it. I also tried to remove IE from my computer from the add/remove list but IE is not even showing up on the list!!!!!!!!! something weird is going…I just don twant to have to recover the entire computer just cuz of one little error…the problem is not really the error itself but the annoying fact of knowing that when i close my browser window it’s gonna show up :x and that pisses me off! I could post the error report that shows up for u guys, I dont know if that would be of any help? i’m not that technically knowledgable enough to know what that report means or if it would help you out…

Wow, that’s screwed up, I’m sure one of the pros here will have something for ya.  I am going to search on the internet to see what i come up with.  You have SP2 right?

I have service pack 2 downloaded but i haven’t installed it cuz i’ve heard that it’s still unstable is that true? and I just got my tr5 about a month ago and it’s been working fine since then untill today when that error started.  So should I go ahead and install service pack2 are their any reported problems or unstablity that u know of with the TR5 and SP2?  If you give me the go ahead i’llinstal it i’m just waiting for the green light.

I installed SP2 a few days ago…works fine for me

The problems many people have with SP2 are related to gaming.  Many gaming issues have come up recently with SP2.  Some games just plain don’t work anymore while others have issues.

If your not a gamer then SP2 might be for you.
