I was snooping around Yahoo Groups and noticed that one of the members there has opened up his TR and took a photo of it. It’s neat to look at and might be handy for those of you who want to know if you can upgrade the miniPCI WiFi card.

Big props to Doug Warner for providing us with this great picture. Also, you may want to check this thread for his tips on opening up the TR the correct way.

Where is the Mini-PCI actually located under those components?

If you check out that thread you will see that he mentions that:

The Mini-PCI (wireless LAN) card is under the right front corner of the CD drive.

I don’t think that this person went any further taking apart his TR yet. Hopefully someone will try dismantling the TR a little further to see if it’s possible to get at the miniPCI with minimal fuss. It seems that just getting the keyboard and case open is not necessarily an easy thing to do.

If folks are interested, I opened my TR1AP up yesterday
to replace a keyboard that I, um, spilled a soft drink on:

so if you can replace the keyboard by ordering the part from sony, when the tr3 comes out, cant you call that same parts dept number and order the dvd burner and put that in the tr2 notebooks?

They might ask for your product serial # if they think you are using it for another notebook…i’ve had that happen to me before.
