[quote author=“Buckerine”]The TV tuner looks very cool. How is it any better than other offerings like the WinTV PVR USB2?
It might not be. I’ll find out soon enough. I’ve learned overtime to pay a premium for Sony branded stuff…so I don’t mind paying double or more for an item that does the same thing.
I know the Tuner was designed with the TR in mind…or the other way around…either way it should work better then generic tuners…
[quote author=“tifosiv122”]It’s a Sony. Thats all i’ll say till I see for myself it works. I don’t want people going out and buying it and it doesn’t fit in the TR…

I’d like a smaller DVD burner but it’s seriously hard to justify the price considering how much desktop ones cost and how much faster they are. I built my own using a $109 Sony DRU510A (4x DVD+RW/-RW) and a $60 USB2 5.25” enclosure. Having 4x burning speed was essential as I’ve recently been authoring lots of DVDs and burning at 2x-2.4x was way too long. It’s not completely portable but luckily the enclsoure isn’t much bigger than the drive itself so it can travel in my larger messenger bag if it needs to. It does also need a regular power plug but it’s still relatively portable.
It would be great if the internal DVD writer worked, as I’m currently considering purchasing the external Sony one for a whopping $500. It’ll be tough to step down to a slower burn speed though, it kind of reminds me of when I upgraded the 2x CD burner in my desktop to a 52x unit in that the extra speed made me never want to go back.
I know what you guys mean about speed. I just bought a TDK 8X DVD+-RW for my desktop, it cost $120 new at Staples…thats cheap. I have a 4x DVD-RW drive that is sitting on my desk and I really have no use for it.
