Hey guys, after a few hours or sometimes less my tr drops the wireless router connection that i have hooked up and then i either have to restart my tr or unlplugg and replugg my router…it didn’t use to do this before i dont think…any ideas on what it could be or what i can do to fix it??

make sure the power save mode is off and the firmware for your router is up to date.

even i’d been having the same problem recently (I think after upgrading to SP2) so it kept on disconnecting and reconnecting by itself. I just decided to look into and yesterday found that for preferred networks some other network (in the neighbourhood) was on top and not the one at my place so I chnged that setting and since then I haven’t had that problem again.

I had this problem on both my TR and my 505 at one point. Both times it happened when I first got the devices (I assume it was a setting I touched) so I restored and everything was fine.

It’s quite annoying since you’ll be surfing and all of a sudden your connection drops…then comes back…

also check for any potential 802.11 interferences(ie. 2.4ghz phones)

No quick fix comes to mind, but rather than reboot the TR or mess with the router try this if you lose connection. Click on the Wireless Icon (if it’s in the system tray) tab Support and click on Repair. Otherwise go to Control Panel, Network Connections, Wireless and do the same thing.

in the network connection properties, uncheck the authentic as 802.11 . . .
this might help.

correction to my last post,
in the wireless network connection, select your network, and then properties, then click on authentication, uncheck the
“enable ieee 802.1x authentication for this network”.

Just to let you all know that doing the repair option in the wireless connection window seems to have fixed everything my net has been connected and hasn’t dropped and i’m on 13 hours and counting so im happy :D Thank you all so much for your help…great people on this forum no doubt bout that :mrgreen:
