I have a T on order. It’s currently stuck at a Fedex distribution center. Should be here on Monday. Here’s a pic that some of you may have already seen. The T may be a bit larger in depth and length (manufacturers are notorous for fudging dimensions) than the TR, but the T definetly has the TR beat in thickness. Hepefully someone who has a TR and a T can take some pics. Until then..
yeh, i would have to say, that speaks for itself. But the battery…
Give us some input on the battery life; the specs show a 112% capacity battery compared to the tr. hmmm that is impressive. However, the extended battery for the tr is 150% of the standard battery in the tr… but it is expensive….
sorry about the lack of pics. I took some with the dell 700 before leaving town friday, but did not realize that I had to host them and link them to my messages. I did not have time to do this. Perhaps I could email them to someone later tomorrow night and they could post/host them. I really like the thinness of the unit and it seems to have a solid metal casing (perhaps this is because of the heavy texture). I think this will allow me to more easily carry it in my messager bag once I receive the C3 case I ordered from Japan. The tr was a bit too thick to do this while using the semi-hard silver CK… case and the dell I just had to carry in a separate small case, ugh…more luggage. I teach at a college, so I am usually loaded up with texts, papers, etc… I think this is strong thin option for those carrying a light, thin computer in slip case along with other items in the same bag. On a side note about the color, there seems to be some hint of dark blue tint on the sides, but it mostly appears to be dark grey. I was a little surprised, but not disappointed. I will be selling the 700 next week, I believe.
One other thing about he buttons. The volume buttons are difficult to use as they are placed almost out of site on the front cover on the lower lip. I find myself just feeling for a button and hit or miss as to whether it increases or decreases (or mutes) the sound. This is disappointing. DVD buttons work nicely and are programmable. I never saw a button to control music, see above to program one. The tr had the better layout for me and I am not sure how much I will use the DVD buttons, though. I would rather have had the volume buttons in a better place. Wifi is similar to volume requiring a concentrated effort to see and manipulate it. Still getting used to the stiff mouse buttons.
I just spent some time with the VAIO T and Fujitsu P at Fry’s. The VAIO looked a bit thinner, but somehow “felt” much thinner while in use. I guess because when I typing on the Fujitsu, it feels a bit higher up.
A couple things to note, I found that I was able to type better on the Fujitsu and the trackpad/buttons were smoother and better placed on the Fujitsu.
The styling and thinness of the Sony was awesome… stoked that it has bluetooth. I am still up in the air on which one will be my next laptop :?
I emailed the pics to you. I hope you can put them up. Note, I am not a photographer, but they should give an indication of size to yet another non Sony computer.
